The Lion Foundation is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most respected Charitable Trusts. Since 1985 we have returned over $1 billion back to the community, supporting thousands of good causes all around New Zealand.
We have many Lion Foundation venues and gaming machines across the country and we consistently return millions of dollars into the community. Last year that equated to over $33 million through over 3,000 grants for community-based organisations across New Zealand. That is 10 good causes every day– causes as diverse as the people who live in those communities: from Northland to Bluff, east coast to west, rural to urban. In fact, there are few Kiwis whose lives have not been touched by a Lion Foundation grant.
Our Values Do The Right Thing – We will always aim to be the best we can by doing the right thing for our customers and stakeholders. This means we will act with integrity and be honest about who we are and what we do.
Front Up – We will not back away from a challenge. We have an important part to play in our society and we embrace this responsibility with pride and humility.
Stronger Together – Being part of a winning team that cares for each other and all the people we deal with
At the heart of our community. As a community-focused trust, we provide support for local initiatives, facilities and events that bring vibrancy, connectedness, growth and economic benefits to the region. Our transformational funding process brings life to grassroots organisations and large-scale multi-million-dollar projects alike. Since our establishment in 1993, we've been at the heart of our community making a difference with our distributions. We provide funding and rebates in the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga regions.
We support innovation in our community so that together we build a region that is the envy of all others. Now at approximately $1 billion, the TECT fund is one of the largest in the country, significantly contributing to the creation of a region from which, not only current residents will benefit, but future generations. This is something of which we can all feel proud because we all make this happen through our collective support of TECT’s community distributions.

Pub Charity Limited distributes donations to worthy community organisations all over New Zealand through the funds raised in gaming machines hosted in our member hotels and taverns.
We first began raising donations funds for New Zealand communities in 1987. That’s 30 years of excellent partnerships with our venues, 30 years of great entertainment for our players and 30 years supporting communities all over New Zealand.
Three things set us apart: First, we never lose sight of the fact that without the hotels and taverns that host our gaming machines, there would be no Pub Charity Limited – and no community funds. The distribution of our funds is also unique.
We look to support a large number of organisations from across the spectrum – community groups, health, sport, education, emergency services, environment, culture – all receive equal consideration by our Net Proceeds Committee.
Finally, we have a policy of returning funds back into the communities where they were raised – and this isn’t just by area. Our Net Proceeds Committee always takes note of the suburbs and small communities where funds are being raised to ensure they are the ones that benefit.
